#60 Second Makeup Challenge - Up To It?

#60SecondMakeupChallenge
Hey everyone! If you were wondering how my exams are going, they are going really well so far. However on with le post!

I've always wanted to make up my own tag, something that would just be the bee's knees for people to participate in, and a couple of days ago I was on Polyvore and had the idea for this post 'The 60 Second Makeup Challenge'. It's simple really, all you have to do is respond to the prompt below:

'You're in an elevator with 60 seconds before the doors open and you walk into the biggest job interview of your life. What 60 second makeup look would you create to look stunning in the interview?'

That's a tough one. If I were to be honest, I would have failed at this if it had happened in real life because it took me a good long while to figure out what exactly it is that I'd even be doing.

My Answer
Okay, so basically a look that has to be killer and be done in such short an amount of time, to me, should have as little products in use as possible and they should be easy to use. The complete look that I'm doing for this is an overall neutral look with a red lip to add a shock factor. Okay . . . let's begin.

First, I'll start off with a Smashbox BB cream because, with a BB cream the application is super simple and it offers just the right amount of coverage, no brush needed, just rub it in with my hands and I'll be done just that much faster. Next, moving on to the eyes. Again for this I'll use no brush, I'll simply choose the fourth colour from the Naked Basics palette and apply it all over my lid.

There's this thing that I do almost every morning when I do my brows. I don't use powder on them, I use mascara. I would recommend that if you're in a rush and you're eyebrows simply must be done that you try this method. I simply have a few swipes of the mascara on each brow and then it's over with. Simple tip though, never use black on you're eyebrows even if your hair is naturally black - use a dark brown one if anything.

I then flick some mascara onto my lashes and then that's it for my eyes.

The lips, the lips, the lips. Since for the majority of this look I've been leaning more towards neutral, I'll give the look a major pop of colour with the Sephora lip colour above. Even though I included a NARS concealer into the mix, I'd only use it if I felt I had enough time left in the 60 seconds to blend it all in, which I highly doubt. And, before the elevator doors open I'll wipe all the makeup off of my hands with some baby wipes and tah-dah.

Rules of the Tag:
  • Feel free to tag anyone to do this.
  • When writing this, please include the prompt, it adds to the whole effect
  • Feel free to use the first image in this blog post as it is the official image for this tag
  • When doing this, please state my blog, 'Vanity Rose Official', as the creator of this tag
  • And the MOST important rule, just have fun with it.
I'm sorry if this blog post seemed a bit rushed. I only had 60 seconds after all, and I may have gotten a little too into it.

I tag everyone and anyone to do this tag.

T'is all everyone.

Bye everyone and I'll talk to you in the next post.

Summer Intern-ships

Hey everyone, I know that for some of you Summer is already in full swing, but it hasn't started for me as yet (blame school), and with Summer comes the prospects of Summer Intern-ships. Have any of you signed up for/been accepted into an intern-ship?
I signed up for one just yesterday, well, it was more like a 'Summer Job Attachment Program' but it's essentially the same thing. And, with that said I really have no idea what type of job I'll be set up with - if any. There were only 60 spots available and it seems like I may have filled the last spot. Not all 60 will be accepted though, so fingers crossed. I'll let you guys know whether I get through or not.
A Summer intern-ship would definitely be something beneficial to do. You get work experience, get to work in a field that you're passionate about and if you're getting into a paid intern-ship you can also get cash (to supplement your shopping habit haha).
The intern-ship would also serve to supplement Vanity Rose, it would give me the opportunity to add a few OOTD, FOTD and product review posts!
I guess from the little experience that I've had so far, there's a little piece of advice that I'd like to share with you guys; please for the love of all that is good in this world, have an appropriate email address set up for work and all that. Oh my gosh, I cannot explain to you enough just how crazy it was for me to actually make up an email address while I was there filling out the application, going home after and setting up that email - it was fun though.

T'is all for now.
Have you signed up for a Summer intern-ship?

Were you accepted to one?

Tell me about it - because I'm nosy.

Bye everyone, I'll talk to you in the next post!

Dreaming of Travelling?

I think that it's a pretty common aspiration for people to want to travel the globe. You dream of going to the very top of the Eiffel Tower, seeing Paris like you're on top of the world. You dream of doing that infamous pose with the Leaning Tower of Pisa.

But . . . think about it.

Have you actually even made any attempts at making those dreams a reality. Today I realised this as I came across an article on solo travelling. What have I done to make travelling a possibility for me?

Have I been saving? No.

Had I even decided on any specific destinations? No.

It had all just been a blurred daydream that I'd have ever once in all while. Having asked myself these questions, I realised that I probably would've never seen the Sydney Orchestra or walked the streets of London had I not gotten my head out of the clouds and I realised that I actually needed to do something to make travelling happen for me. The post that I read got me thinking - and I'm glad.

I think that many people - including myself - get caught up into the whole 'daydreaming about be away somewhere' and don't actually go through the motions of making any clear decisions. We think 'Oh, I'll go there some day', and then just leave it at that. I felt like I'd been short changing myself at that moment and, like the spontaneous person that I am, I decided that I was going to make a decision right then and there about where I wanted to go. After some thinking and a little bit of googling, I decided on Italy - I'd always wanted to go to Italy (amongst other places ;D)  - it's a beautiful place.

Source

But of course even if I am a spontaneous person, it's not like I could just hop on a plane to have the time of my life. I first needed to plan everything out, and while I'm not saying that I planned out an entire adventure-filled trip to Italy in the matter of a few hours - I at least started something. And besides, I think planning a trip like that should be planned over a longer period so that you can wrap your head around everything clearly.

The point though, that I'm really trying to make with all my rambling is to say this; please don't allow yourself to become trapped in the mindset of ' I'll go there eventually'. If travelling is an aspiration of yours, don't put it on the back burner. And, while I'm not telling you to blow all your cash just like that for an impromptu trip across the globe; I am saying to you however to try little by little to make travelling a reality for you.

Heck, I'm no millionaire and God knows I'll need to save up some money before I even set foot  in Italy, but I'll make it happen and that's enough for now.

Another thing, I could not speak a word of Italian before this morning and now I've taken to learning it. If you're in the market for learning a new language at an easy pace I recommend 'Doulingo' as I'd used it to help me with my Spanish before and it's great. I now know a few things in Italian and I can't wait to be fluent. Remember though, if your destination presents a language barrier and you plan to learn that language, don't get frustrated because it does take a while.

Yes, this post does stray from my usual posts, but I felt I had to share this with you. I hope that this has served to inspire someone to start making some solid plans.

Bye everyone, I'll talk to you in the next post!

Rimmel Moisture Renew Lipstick | REVIEW

In today's post I'll be reviewing the Rimmel London Moisture Renew Lipstick*. This lipstick is part of Rimmel's new and improved version of their previous Moisture Renew line. Sadly, I can't say much about the differences between the old line and the new one, as I'd never tried the others. But, let's be on with the review nonetheless. This lipstick is in the shade 'As You Want Victoria' and it promises to deliver high pigmented colour onto the lips as well as a high degree of moisture.

For me lipsticks have to be really pigmented because I have pigmented lips. Having to apply a lipstick again, again, again and AGAIN can become very tedious. What I like about this lipstick is that it stops the whole repetition of application. The colour goes on easily and lasts quite some time and so I don't have to worry about fading or an uneven appearance during the day for a long time. Another thing I like about this is its moisturising capabilities, because God knows my lips get dry really fast.

I like the glossy finish that it has, so after you apply it you don't have to bother with putting on a top coat of gloss but, the down side is that, if you're looking for a matte finish then this is not the lipstick that you'd reach for.

And as for the similarities and differences between the old and the new, the only thing that I could really say is that all the colours from the old line are present in the new, but the packaging has changed a bit.

Old compared to New

The packaging is only slightly different but the colour scheme is the same; and speaking of packaging I really like the sleek simplicity of it - purple and silver go very well together.

Overall with the experience that I've had with this, I can genuinely say that it's a product that I really like and would recommend. I actually think I should get myself some more of the other colours and try them out as well.

What do you think of this lipstick?

Have you had any lipsticks from the older line?

Let me know.
Bye everyone, I'll talk to you in the next post.

* I got this product complimentary from Influenster for the purpose of reviews.

Top 5 Tips for Studying

Hey everyone, I know that I've been absent from my blog for a full seven days, but things have just been rather hectic with exams having started. Hope you understand. But, today I'll be straying from the usual beauty/fashion related posting and doing a bit of lifestyle. Today I'll be sharing with you my top 5 study tips.

In the past few weeks of hitting the books I've come across a few studying tips that I'd like to share with you guys. Here we go:

No Music
I know that the title of this tip may seem a bit daunting and unrealistic as many people do listen to music while they study, I did as well, but this tip only applies to people, who, like me use listening to music as an excuse to take a pause in studying or just genuinely get distracted by it. I've gone through the withdrawal of not having music on when I'm study and even tried listening to online study playlist as an alternative, but I just had to let that go because I just cannot stand classical music. You're likely to go through the withdrawal, but it's work it in the end, right?

The Internet is no Longer Your BFF
The internet can be your biggest influencer in getting you to stop studying. Oh, you need to check an email? Isn't that the usual excuse though? Can't it wait?

Pretty soon checking your email can turn into checking out a couple different websites and you leaving your text book high and dry. It's safer to just have your computer and phone out of sight all together. If what you're studying is on your computer or even the internet, just try your hardest not to open any extra tabs.

Don't Put it Off
Don't put off studying if you don't have a valid reason. And no . . . doing your nails is not a valid reason. In the time leading up to your exams it is vital to make the absolute best use of that time so as not to be having a mini anxiety attack the morning of the exam because you know that you didn't study a few chapters and you're just hoping and praying that they don't show up on the test. Trust me, it's not worth it.

Eating Right is Essential
Your body will need a steady supply of nutrients, vitamins and minerals so that you can be focused when studying and doing your exams. Take it from me, my diet has not been the best thing in the past couple of days and it's not safe to feel as if the only thing keeping you going is fumes.

Don't Over Do It
Striving to get top marks is a very admirable quality but, there is such a thing as over doing it - even in studying. It's important that you get a good amount of sleep and that you take a break after a reasonable amount of study time has passed.

Extra Tips:

- Set up rewards for yourself and stick to the reward system. This will really help you to be motivated to study and make it just a bit more fun.

- Setting up a study time table can also be beneficial. Make sure when you do this though, that you set up good times for study. Don't force yourself to adjust to the table, adjust the table to you.

I hope that these tips will help you guys to better your study habits and I'll talk to you guys again soon.

Bye everyone, I wish you guys the best of luck in your exams!

CoverGirl Lash Exact Waterproof Mascara | REVIEW

Image
I recently got the CoverGirl Lash Exact Waterproof Mascara – in the colour ‘Very Black’ – and so I wanted to do a review for you guys.

What this product claims:
  • Waterproof.
  • Clump-free.
  • Can hold a curl.
  • Defines and Lengthens.
  • Long-lasting.
The first thing that stood out to me about this mascara was that it claimed to be waterproof. I’d never had any sort of waterproof make-up before and so I was very eager to see for myself if this mascara could stand up to the test.

Defining and Clump-free? I applied it, and my eyelashes instantly became recognizable – my eyes looked so much more awake. There were no clumps at all!

Waterproof? When the mascara had dried, I decided to wash my face with a cleanser, paying special attention to my lashes. I did that a couple of times and it would not budge. Holds a curl? But, what I did realise is that this mascara – once dry – makes your eyelashes slightly hard. This product claims to hold a curl for as long as you have it on, and I guess by making your eyelashes hard it’s able to keep that promise. The curl in my lashes did not flop and the firmness of the lash is in no way uncomfortable.

Lengthening? This mascara didn’t in anyway make my lashes look any longer than they had been originally, so that’s a let down.

Long-lasting? Throughout the whole day I didn’t have to reapply the mascara once.
The packaging is simple with the all over pink and single blue line, the slim barrel makes the mascara great for travelling. All in all; this is a really good mascara and I recommend it! (8 out of 10)

Thank you guys for reading. Also I made an Instagram account, it would mean a lot to me if you guys could check it out (here).

Whether we like to admit it or not, most of us as girls have had a period in our life where the idea of fairy tales and them coming true was just the best thing ever!
